Associate Counsel, Regulatory Compliance

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Counsel to join our legal team.  Reporting to the AVP, Assistant General Counsel, the individual in this role will work closely with various departments, providing support in the area of regulatory tracking and compliance, with a focus on providing understandable and actionable guidance to the business.  Using sound judgment, the Associate Counsel will provide timely, strategic, and practical legal advice that promotes Claritev’s strategic objectives while mitigating legal and regulatory risks.  This position offers an exciting opportunity to do important work within a dynamic and innovative environment.  In addition to the Qualifications specified below, the Associate Counsel is responsible for the Specialized Job Roles and Responsibilities and Job Roles associated with this role.

Associate Counsel, Regulatory Compliance

  • Work with Claritev management to provide legal counsel and business counsel, including but not limited to the SVP, General Counsel and their designee(s); executive management, or other departments, including product, sales and account management, marketing, operations, talent and growth, and IT and security.
  • Evaluate and explain Company's responsibilities with respect to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify, track, evaluate, and work with the business to address any operational, policy, or other changes required by shifts in applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support the business in development, refinement, and deprecation of Company products and services within the applicable regulatory framework(s).
  • Participate in managing regulatory filings, related strategy, and Company relationships with regulators and clients.
  • Review agreement language related to client and Company regulatory obligations.
  • Support development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures.

JOB SCOPE:
This individual works independently under minimal supervision and with considerable discretion to make decisions that affect the day-to-day operations within the Company. The incumbent applies comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to complete job responsibilities. The incumbent acts as a resource for Associate Counsels, Paralegals, and other Law Department staff as well as other Company departments. Work requires basing decisions on sound logic and rationale; advancing problems or issues toward resolution when encountering ambiguity or uncertainty; choosing the best alternative based on consideration of pros, cons, tradeoffs, timing and available resources; making timely decisions on problems and issues requiring immediate attention; and making sound decisions on complex functional issues and problems. An incumbent may have direct subordinates but will generally provide work direction to others who do not directly report to this job.

Required Qualifications

  • D. degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Bar admission, in good standing, in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 5 years prior in-house or law firm experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years prior experience related to healthcare or other related fields
  • Experience working with cross functional teams or supporting the operational, product, or other business teams
  • Experience handling long-term and/or complex legal projects
  • Strong verbal and written business communication skills: highly adept at synthesizing and summarizing complex concepts into clear, concise and actionable communications
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: ability to foster collaboration with and influence colleagues to drive results
  • Strong time and project management skills: ability to appropriately prioritize tasks and goals to ensure timely, on-target completion
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability and desire to learn new subject areas and willingness to take on new responsibilities

The salary range for this position is $120-145K  Specific offers take into account a candidate’s education, experience and skills, as well as the candidate’s work location and internal equity.  This position is also eligible for health insurance, 401k and bonus opportunity.
