Associate Counsel

JOB SUMMARY: The Associate Counsel is responsible for providing counsel to management and assisting in planning and directing all aspects of the organization's legal affairs and ensures maximum protection of the Company's legal rights.

JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Provide legal and business advice to company management
2. Assume responsibility for complex legal projects with  minimal supervision.
3. Lead complex contract negotiations with company vendors as well as company clients
4. Provide legal support and advice to MultiPlan procurement in the areas of contracting, data privacy, and security.

5. Provide business guidance and legal support to the company in development of vendor management and procurement system.
6. Provide legal advice to MultiPlan Sales and Account Management concerning client and vendor interactions.

7. Provide regular briefings to MultiPlan legal management concerning vendor management issues.

8. Provide legal advice to additional MultiPlan departments as needed.
9. Direct, supervise, train, Assistant Counsel, paralegals, and administrative staff as needed.
10. Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across disciplines and departments.
11. Ensure compliance with applicable data privacy and other healthcare regulations and requirements.
12. Demonstrate commitment to the Company's core values.
13. The position responsibilities outlined above should be construed as all encompassing. Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.


JOB SCOPE:
This individual works independently under minimal supervision and with considerable discretion to make decisions that affect the day-to-day operations within the Company. The incumbent applies comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures to complete job responsibilities. The incumbent acts as a resource for Associate Counsels, Paralegals, and other Law Department staff as well as other Company departments. Work requires basing decisions on sound logic and rationale; advancing problems or issues toward resolution when encountering ambiguity or uncertainty; choosing the best alternative based on consideration of pros, cons, tradeoffs, timing and available resources; making timely decisions on problems and issues requiring immediate attention; and making sound decisions on complex functional issues and problems. An incumbent may have direct subordinates but will generally provide work direction to others who do not directly report to this job.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $135-145K.  Specific offers take into account a candidate’s education, experience and skills, as well as the candidate’s work location and internal equity.  This position is also eligible for health insurance, 401k and bonus opportunity.

Job Requirements:

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, and Training):

* Must have a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.

*Must be licensed to practice law in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney

*Experience with complex commercial agreements preferred

*Health law experience preferred

* Must have strong communication, analytic and problem-solving skills
* Ability to drive execution
* Ability to handle long-term and/or complex legal projects with significant financial or other business impact
* Ability to manage outside counsel as needed
* Ability to represent the company in a positive and professional manner
* Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a positive and professional manner
* Ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team
* Ability to use software, hardware, and peripherals related to job responsibilities
